#5.) John Cena vs Rob Van Dam – ECW One Night Stand
WWE brought back ECW One Night Stand for the second year in a row, returning to the beloved Hammerstein Ballroom, an intimate but intense venue. The crowd in attendance wasn’t a WWE crowd but an ECW original crowd. Authentic and living up to their name, they spewed out many non-PG chants and were hostile towards almost all but the ECW originals.
The main event was Rob Van Dam vs John Cena. Van Dam was the first person to cash in the briefcase in advance, something that John Cena (and much later Braun Strowman) would do. To call the crowd reaction towards Cena hostile would be a grave understatement. It sounded like just about everyone in attendance wanted to see Cena get destroyed and they cheered for the ECW original Rob Van Dam all the way.
It turned out to be a great match as advertised, with Edge assisting Rob Van Dam and Paul Heyman making the count. RVD would win his first WWE world title in extraordinary circumstances.
