Steve Austin is the example of a real trash-talking babyface who could back it up. While he was a trash talker when being a heel, he certainly took it to a whole other level when he turned face. As the franchise player of WWE, there was nobody more popular than Stone Cold was and his ability to get the WWE Universe behind him was certainly outstanding to watch.
There was nobody as over as he was and he was able to connect to the audience by simply being himself – the bionic redneck who drank beer, talked trash and kicked people’s behind. The fact that he was feuding against his boss made him an extremely relatable character for the working class citizen.
