Pedro Morales was Bruno Sammartino’s successor. After Ivan Koloff beat Sammartino in the shock of the century to win the WWWF World Championship, he would defend it merely 21 days later against the relatively-new Pedro Morales. Sammartino was in attendance as well, as he watched a loud crowd cheer on Morales.
At the end, Morales was the one who pinned Koloff and became champion. He would reign supreme with the title for over a 1000 days, though many didn’t consider his run as impactful as Sammartino (while some disagree).
