#2.) vs. Ricky Steamboat – Saturday Night’s Main Event – October 1986
“Dragons and snakes have never gotten along”. This was the line used as Jake Roberts walked out for his rubber match against Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. The two were in the midst of a heated rivalry, and Steamboat already had one win over Roberts a few months prior.
This was their rubber match, and it was no less impressive. They would top their previous bout with a fast-paced encounter, ahead of most matches at that time. It wasn’t a long match by any means, but the crowd soaked in every minute of it. Steamboat ended up getting the roll-up pin, and when Roberts tried to go for his usual post-match attack and unleashing Damien, Steamboat answered back with a Komodo Dragon of his own.
It was a truly fantastic moment.
