Rob Van Dam was Mr. Money in the Bank in 2006, and instead of cashing in on John Cena when he was down and out, he chose the honorable way of doing it – by announcing that he was cashing it in beforehand. It took place in the small Hammerstein Ballroom, but the ambiance in the arena felt like it was a lot more people.
Let’s just say that the crowd wasn’t exactly friendly towards hostile. If anything, they were spitting out venom with a vengeance. It still remains the most hostile crowd that he’s ever experienced. They had a great match and Cena did a really good job to put over RVD, who was beloved to the crowd.
There was some interference and controversy, but in the end, RVD defeated Cena to become WWE Champion.
