When we spoke about Eddie Guerrero being one of the most intense superstars ever, his “I’m an addict” promo with Brock Lesnar truly exemplifies it. Lesnar, heading into his WWE title match against Guerrero, seemed it was fine for him to mock the Latino star. During their exchange, Lesnar called him an addict, referring to Guerrero’s trouble with drugs and rehabilitation.
However, Guerrero was a very different man. A changed man. And his response about how he was addicted to the crowd’s reaction, addicted to giving his family a better life, to be a better man for his family, to beating Lesnar and taking the title, among others. You need to go see it yourself because there’s no way we can possibly capture the emotion and intensity of his promo.
It may be one of the greatest promos of all time, and he shut Lesnar up by standing up to him. One of the many moments that made Guerrero as great as he was.
