#4.) vs The Rock – Royal Rumble 1999
Between The Rock’s first title win at Survivor Series 1998 and Royal Rumble 1999, the WWF Championship had exchanged hands once. You’re probably familiar with the iconic night where Mick Foley defeated The Rock, in what is the most celebrated nights in the company’s history.
The Royal Rumble match was probably one of the most violent WWE matches ever. If you ever wonder why WWE banned chair shots to the head, just look at this match. It’s featured on Beyond The Mat, as Foley would end up taking a whopping 11 unprotected chair shots to the head, right in front of his family.
It was a great match, however, and Mankind once again got screwed out of the title, after a voice backstage seemed to say “I Quit”, whereas Mankind never actually said it. The Rock regained his throne.
