#1.) Kazuchika Okada vs Kenny Omega – Dominion 6.11
This is the perfect example of a long-term story with an incredible payoff. Kenny Omega and Okada were on a collision course for their fourth bout against each other, having one win apiece. There wasn’t going to be a draw, as it was 2-out-of-3 falls. Somehow, Okada and Omega managed to outdo all of their previous outings and produce one of the greatest matches of all time.
It was dramatic from bell-to-bell and was the perfect culmination of Okada’s 720-day title reign. When Omega got the third fall, fans were in disbelief yet jumped with joy at the same time. It was hard to see Okada losing his title after two years, but it was also the perfect passing of the guard moment.
It was the conclusion of what many consider the single greatest world title reign of the 20th century. It’s hard to disagree.
