#5.) Aleister Black vs Adam Cole – NXT Takeover: San Antonio
It was Royal Rumble weekend and Aleister Black found himself once again in a match with Adam Cole. He had faced him the prior month, beating him clean to qualify for the NXT No. 1 contenders match. This resulted in Cole and the Undisputed Era costing Black the opportunity to challenge for the title.
Cole and Black had an Extreme Rules bout at San Antonio and the stipulation could not have been more perfect. The crowd chanted “This is awesome” even before the bell rang, so that should tell you about the anticipation. It was Black’s toughest test up to that point and he suffered a heavy beating (and he dished out a lot of it to Cole as well).
Black fought through the interference of the Undisputed Era and successfully beat Cole, with no one else to block him from an NXT title shot.
