#1.) vs Bobby Roode – Destination X 2012
Impact Wrestling has gotten a lot of criticism over the years for creative decisions, but an undeniable moment of greatness in the company was Austin Aries’ rise to the top in 2012. He had quite the run as X-Division Champion, completing a near 300-day reign. It was around this period that the “Option C clause” was introduced, allowing the X-Division Champion to vacate his title in order to gain a world title shot.
Aries was the first superstar to take this option as he vacated the title in order to face then-World Champion Bobby Roode. They had a collision course at Destination X and if there’s one word that can describe this match, it’s “greatness”. Aries and Roode turned out to be perfect dance partners as they put on an all-time classic in one of the most memorable main events in TNA history.
The trigger was pulled on Aries at the right time and the crowd erupted when he became the new World Champion.
