#3.) Vengeance on the McMahons
It was clear that Vince McMahon personally had big plans for Lashley. Why else would he be feuding with him in such a profile storyline? Unable to stand Lashley’s WrestleMania 23 victory (at the expense of his own hair), he decided to punish him as much as he could and made Lashley defend his ECW World title against himself, Shane McMahon and Umaga in a 3-on-1 handicap match.
The numbers game obviously played a factor and after Umaga’s flurry of offence, Vince McMahon tagged himself in and pinned Lashley, becoming ECW World Champion. Lashley got his revenge in a 3-on-1 handicap match but didn’t win the title as he pinned Shane McMahon.
Sick of all the shenanigans, Lashley would face Vince McMahon in a 1-on-1 street fight and this time, put him away for good and regained the title. He had gotten his revenge on McMahon, who stripped him of the title after he moved to RAW. It was clear that big things laid ahead for Lashley but an unfortunate injury and other circumstances put a halt to that.
