It’s not often that you get to see WWE superstars go up against Impact Wrestling Superstars. During the Edge–Lita fiasco outside the ring that saw Matt Hardy expose them, he was reprimanded for his behavior and released by WWE. Fan outrage being one of the main factors, he was brought back to WWE and officially employed by them again on July 11th, 2005.
Since he was briefly unemployed, he had booked an independent date on July 29th. WWE allowed him to fulfill his obligations and wrestle for International Wrestling Cartel. His opponent happened to be TNA Superstar – The Phenomenal AJ Styles. It’s quite surprising that the match has been forgotten about through the years. AJ Styles, of course, was victorious in the match.
