Roman Reigns vs. John Cena
It was a big fight feel at No Mercy, with Roman Reigns and John Cena going at it in the Staples Center. The longest match of the night, with a 22 minute contest, showed Roman Reigns controlling the 16-time world champion from the first bell. Cena could not get things moving early, which was a benefit to him overcoming the odds. The crowd was behind Cena more than they have ever been since 2006. That is why Roman Reigns does not need to be a complete heel. He is already booed by more than 70 percent of the fans, but still sells merch and the kids love him. Sound familiar?
Anyways, this match was physical and tough. Cena would be able to battle back. to the point of hitting his second of four AA’s from the top rope. Roman hit a Spear through the announce table, but Cena kept giving it to Reigns. The Big Dog continued to fight back, battle out of submission holds and end up hitting a Superman Punch and a Spear to quiet the Cenation. As this match ended, it felt like the end of something important for John Cena. It is not the end of Cena, but it’s the beginning of the third attempt for WWE to make Roman into the new John Cena. If you really want to capitalize on Roman Reigns’ polarizing characteristics, let a Shield reunion take over the next 1-2 months. This gives him a few months to win some fans back with nostalgia and get ready for his inevitable main event at WrestleMania.
You should be able to pencil in Cena vs. Undertaker at WrestleMania, as well as Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar.
WWE Chooses Mouth over Moves
Enzo Amore is the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion, after spending 8 of the 9 and a half minutes getting the crap kicked out of him by Neville. With everything going wrong for 205 Live’s roster, Neville has been the only constant. Maybe, creative thinks that bringing Enzo and his mouth to the top of the card is a good thing. I am not sure about that, but WWE is sure that they will choose a gimmick and a mouthpiece over one of the best overall wrestlers that they have. Neville (personally) has to be upset with this decision. He will claim it back in time, but I was shocked at the heel feeling low blow and also shocked they let Enzo walk out as champion. It will be a test, albeit a short one, to see if Enzo’s popularity saves a division with few personalities in it.
