Isenberg Reacts: NXT Takeover Brooklyn III “Welcome to the New NXT, Baybay!”

Andrade Cien Almas defeated Johnny Gargano

Johnny Wrestling and Andrade Cien Almas kicked off what would be a memorable night. The match between the two men felt longer than 13 minutes and that is a good thing. Both men worked hard, fast and executed some extremely unique offensive moves. Almas hit a beautiful suplex combination in the corner and was about to put away Gargano. Johnny Wrestling battled back and then was able to fly around the ring, getting ready to kick the face off of Andrade. Zelina threw a #DIY shirt in the ring, distracting Gargano. He would get kicked and then Almas hit his finisher for the win.

Andrade Cien Almas has ARRIVED. I have always been a fan of his work, but tonight was an excellent showcase of his in-ring ability mixed with a manager who can lead him to higher heights in NXT. Johnny is such a great talent and looks in the best shape of his life, but tonight was not needed for him to stand victorious. The distraction was perfect, reminding everyone that Gargano has unfinished business and his “career” cannot  move along until he clears that up. Hot start and a great opening contest.

Sanity Defeated The Authors of Pain

Alexander Wolfe and Eric Young survived multiple double team moves and even more power from Akam and Rezar at NXT Takeover Brooklyn. When all hell broke loose, which was early, it seemed as if the man who will be a wild card would get involved. Killian Dain was the wild card and he was able to take out Nikki Cross (who got caught in the air) and Rezar through a table. An excellent spot set up EY and Wolfe to hit a neckbreaker/suplex combination from the top to pick up the win.

This tag team match was much different, but still very solid. Both teams worked a pace that felt like a street fight, even though the insane booking of the match made perfect sense. It was a team effort from Sanity, a group of misfits that FINALLY made their biggest impact in NXT tonight. Their championship celebration was cut off by Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish, who attacked the champions and the AoP. They hit their patented Chasing the Dragon on Eric Young, leaving the four men out to dry. NXT has a bright future and now we have a tag team that has been established in one night in NXT. I really enjoyed the chaotic scene this 15-20 minute segment gave us. It was very fitting.
