Isenberg Reacts: WWE NXT “Squashes and Triple Threat War”

Triple Threat Women’s Championship Match

Ruby Riot and Nikki Cross start to team up and take out the champion. After some kicks and take downs, it was Ruby and Nikki exchanging blows. Cross was in control until Ruby reverses a move and kicks her in the face. She disposes her to the outside and regroups. Asuka hits a running splash into Ruby, but Riot hits a hurricanranna from the top rope. Ruby Riot hits a dropkick to both men, as the action spills to the outside. Cross hits a neckbreaker onto the champion and then Ruby hits a suplex. A hanging neckbreaker eliminates Ruby Riot, so we are down to Asuka and Nikki Cross.

The physicality was off the charts between the two women, so much that it spilled to the outside and to the backstage area. Both women are counted out, but the fight continues. We see them throw one another outside and around the arena. Cross throws her into the loading dock door and Asuka returns the favor over and over again. Nikki tries to drown the champion in a cooler of water. They fight back into the arena and then in front of the announcer’s table. A crossbody from Cross onto Asuka takes both women out. This ends NXT.

Well, I have to admit that I really enjoyed how they built this match and the outcome. Asuka is not losing the title on an NXT show on Wednesday night. Rubyt Riot and Nikki Cross are two great options to beat her, but not yet. Nikki and Asuka gave it everything they had after the bell rang to show the struggle and passion for this championship. I really enjoyed this action tonight and thought they gave the show a much needed boost of adrenaline. Asuka is so damn good, from her innovative offense to her excellent ability to sell, but not oversell, a move. What is in store for these ladies next?

The main event of NXT was given 20 minutes, which was a perfect amount. Nobody looked weak and they kept all of their options open to push any of the others to the top when needed. Go back and watch it, it will be well worth your time.
