Both Men in the Right Spot
WWE RAW gave us The Miz vs. Dean Ambrose for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. As you would expect, this was a solid contest focused around the cowardly acts of The Miz. As Dean Ambrose was rolling offensively, The Miz used Maryse to cover getting hit. It backfired, as Dean took to the air and hit a crossbody. Back in the ring, Maryse distracted the referee and The Miz tried to hit Dean below the belt. Dean grabbed his arm and then plunked Miz in the grapefruits. This caused a disqualification and gives The Miz the win.
The crowd was certainly into this and began to cheer The Miz. Is this a problem of Dean Ambrose’s character or is it because The Miz is too good at being a heel? New Jersey loves their heels and this match was really good. It gives it more traction with a disqualification from the face, which seems slightly backwards. WWE RAW gives us two guys who are in the PERFECT spot. Neither guy is a believable opponent for someone like Brock Lesnar, so why do you even need to try that route? I really enjoy this feud, but wonder how much MORE they can get out of it since most of their developments have already happened on the blue brand.
Tag Team Action from 205 Live
The four men who are carrying the Cruiserweight Division did battle, as Austin Aries teamed with Jack Gallagher to take on Neville and TJP. Once again, TJP needs to change his music and his entrance. He is not a face and should not come out with cartoon-ish music and dance moves. Other than that, this is a good transition for TJP. He is being helped by pure disdain from most people who watch him because he was too gimmick and too fake. As you would expect, the tag team match was fun. Aries hit Neville with the Discus Five-arm, but TJP connected with a Detonation Kick on Gentleman Jack to pick up the victory for his team.
A nice break in the story progression on other feuds, WWE RAW went to these guys for something simple and fun. There is not much more to talk about and I think they are much better than some of the filler garbage we had last year. Nevertheless, Austin Aries and Neville are the two best and there is little debate. A title change is near to keep this feud going into the summer months.
