Turning TJP Heel
Turning TJ Perkins on WWE RAW was the right call. The guy is extremely talented in the ring, but his gimmick has been too forced on the smart crowd. His dabbing, his gear and his charisma did not connect with much of the crowd after the CWC, so giving him a fresh gimmick might be the saving grace. His match with Austin Aries on WWE RAW showed that he can make this switch. Attacking him after the match and really letting Neville get into his head backstage is a recipe for success.
With Neville, there is no legit heel after him aside from The Brian Kendrick. WWE needed to develop a younger heel (younger to the crowd) and this rotating door of talent were primarily faces. It can also give a great payoff when TJP has an opportunity to get his title back down the road. Building a lengthy turn and storyline could really help this division.
Shaking up The Women’s Roster
A few notable things occurred on WWE RAW Monday night. First, Nia Jax and Charlotte put on a very solid match. To my surprise, Jax picked up a win clean and took down The Queen in what could be her last night on WWE RAW. Furthermore, the pop of the night went to Alexa Bliss, who is now on Monday nights. She interrupts Bayley and Sasha Banks’ love fest and shows why she is the best mic worker this division has. She is too good to not get pushed right to the top of WWE RAW. The crowd appreciates her and the writers backstage have confidence in her.
Lastly, Mickie James also announced she was coming to WWE RAW. I like that idea and think her vs. Bayley, vs. Sasha and other women can help provide veteran leadership in the locker room and inside of the squared circle. With these two additions, Charlotte MUST move to Smackdown Live. She has done it all and won it all on Monday. There are so many great feuds she can carry on Smackdown and her athleticism can mesh well with Naomi and Becky Lynch.
All in all, the women of WWE shook things up the best tonight and it was a massive change that needed to happen.
