Is This Helping Dolph Ziggler?
A heel Dolph Ziggler is usually the best kind of Dolph Ziggler. When he turned heel, I was hoping that they would run with it and let him do this own thing with some prime talent. The problem is that Smackdown Live has very few main event faces, which is why we saw Dolph Ziggler succeed so much against AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose. With John Cena returning, it gave them an opportunity to try something else with “The Show-Off.”
I like his heel gimmick and think the change of attitude is more natural for him. The problem is simple: he is facing guys that fans really do not care about. Kalisto and Apollo Crews do not have a connection with the crowd, something Ziggler has as a heel or a face. How do you fix this?
I think you realize how different these guys are from one another and potentially give Dolph Ziggler a new tag team partner. Hell, who else do they have to face off against American Alpha? We have not seen much of Dolph Ziggler in a tag team since his days with Big E. That seems forever ago, so why not try that out instead of letting a potentially great heel turn become mediocre at best?
American Alpha Versus…
The options for American Alpha to feud with are the following: The Ascension, Breezango, Heath Slater and Rhyno, The Vaudevillians and The Uso’s. The only team I would care about in the least would be The Uso’s. With that being said, I do not think any of these teams would make for an interesting tag team championship storyline. American Alpha needs important feuds, not muddled down talent. This is nothing against the teams personally, but WWE has killed so many teams in 2016, thanks in large part to the New Day’s reign as champions. Think of how far The Vaudevillians fell. At Money in the Bank (June), they were competing for the tag team championships and had a decent chance of winning. Now, they are just a complete joke and it is sad to see.
Who fixes this? Well, if they can find Ziggler a tag team partner I would enjoy that. I wouldn’t hate a Ziggler/Swagger team to be honest. Two former world champions that deserve better. What about The Revival? This needs to be fixed immediately, or you fear losing any fan backing on Gable and Jordan.
