The Miz vs. Cesaro

Cesaro toys The Miz by doing a few flips and then hits a gutwrench suplex. Cesaro catches The Miz and drops him with a two count. Cesaro hits a dropkick as The Miz is on the top rope, followed by an attempted superplex. Miz hits a hammer from the top and then a kick to his face. Miz focuses on Cesaro’s arm, hits a suplex and a near fall. Miz applies a headlock and then Cesaro fights back. Cesaro hits a dropkick and then some uppercuts. Miz fights back and then Cesaro hits a suplex from the apron. The champion kicks out at two. Cesaro hits a corkscrew elbow, followed by a Swing. A backslide for two and Cesaro hits an uppercut. He gets throw shoulder first and Miz hits Skull Crushing Finale for a two count. During the match, Zayn attacks Owens on the announce table. Cesaro hits a Cesaro Swing and then a crossface. Miz taps out, but Owens and Zayn fight on the outside. The Miz rolls up Cesaro with the distraction and Cesaro is robbed.

I think that this match was pretty good, but it was not nearly as intense, intriguing and connecting with the crowd as the previous match. I question the placement on the card, but we did get the treat of KO on commentary. For the pacing of the match, it really benefitted The Miz. Cesaro is a freakish athlete and The Miz has put on some great matches recently, but the pacing could have gotten too fast for Miz. It was a great balance and a great combination. As for Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn getting involved, I like it. I think a Fatal Four Way could be really intriguing next month for a memorable hardcore type match. It can also give Zayn or Cesaro an upper hand and let Owens on to bigger feuds in 2016.

Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose

Chris Jericho and Dean Ambrose provided the type of match that you would expect from them. Maybe it is just me but I really have no vested interest in their feud. Is it something that is personal to me? Maybe, but I am really questioning why Dean Ambrose gets a big pop for his entrance and then just produces average bouts.

Chris Jericho has developed a natural and genuine heel character that seems easy for him. I feel like both men need a fresh change, something different than what we have seen before. Dean needs a character change if he wants to be better than average. Jericho can still “go” in the ring. He can still give us some fun heel tactics and characteristics, but what is his ultimate swan song. What else can he accomplish? WWE gave us two guys that they want to put on the card, but not sure where they fit.
