A British Point of View: The Future’s Bright… The Future’s Boring

I used to look forward to Tuesday night’s when I was able to watch RAW and catch up with the rest of the world. Now I have to fight the temptation to fast forward through segments which I know have no importance on an overly long three hour show. Nothing could be more of an example than this past Monday when watching the fallout from Survivor Series. I thought it might have been an interesting show to see what direction they take after crowning Sheamus as the new champion the night prior. But as I sit here now typing this article, I’m struggling to remember what actually happened on that show.

WWE are creatively exhausted. They need that spark to create something that will generate interest and passion within the fanbase again. This doesn’t mean get rid of your creative team and bring new people in, this means that they just need to do things differently. Bringing in new creative writers only to lose them when they are exhausted within 12 months of work isn’t helping them, the company or the creative process. I won’t pretend to know what the best solution to this is but this is the area which seemingly needs to be addressed.

This article isn’t meant to be a knock at those people in WWE who work very hard to provide us with entertainment each and every week. It is however, a fan expressing their concerns like many others who are doing the same right now (just look at the ratings for WWE at the moment – People are speaking).

I’m a lifelong fan which doesn’t want to fast forward through the product. I want it to thrive, I want to be able to promote the industry to my friends to let them know that this is something they couldn’t miss. Unfortunately that isn’t the case because the product simply isn’t that engaging at the moment.

WWE have never looked better in so many areas, it’s just a shame that the most vital part is the area which is lacking so much at this moment in time.

It seems a shame that on the eve of their greatest WrestleMania, they’re struggling with injuries to their biggest talents as well as their creativity.
