A British Point of View: What to ‘Undertake’ at WrestleMania

rawI have to admit though, if I were able to pick the match for Undertaker at WrestleMania 32, I would choose Sting. Yes I know it’s a risk. It puts pressure on two older talents to deliver in a match that really should have taken place many years ago. With that being said, it isn’t always about match quality, it’s about a moment in history. Seeing Undertaker and Sting stare at each other in a ring at WrestleMania IS the moment. It would be on every highlight reel for future WrestleMania’s and would stand as a moment in time.

I also think that if it’s going to be Undertaker and Sting’s last match then it should be promoted as such. Bear with me for one moment as I play fantasy booker, I would have Undertaker lose to Lesnar this Sunday. Undertaker would then come out on RAW and say he gave it everything he had, show respect to Lesnar and say that it’s time for him to move aside. Lights go out, Sting appears andwe finally get them both in the same ring. Have Sting say that people don’t want to see him go out like this and say “Undertaker vs. Sting… the match that everyone has wanted to see for so long… On the biggest stage… WrestleMania 32… For the first time… and the last time!”

It would make for an incredible moment, and then WWE can promote the match and event for the next six months as a final swansong for both legends and make WrestleMania 32 ‘must see’. Heck, I’ve even given WWE the tagline!

Obviously, this all depends on whether Sting can go and unfortunately I don’t think that he will be able to make that commitment, certainly not this far removed from Night of Champions. Maybe, it’s something that WWE can do further down the line but if this is the direction they take next year, I hope they do something that will be deserving of a match that so many people have wanted to see.

We spoke about this in more detail this week on IWC Radio and it’s certainly a point that fans feel passionately about. Here’s hoping that whatever decision WWE takes, come next April, we’re all excited to see the biggest WrestleMania in history.
