For the “Divas Revolution”, It’s Now or Never

wwe rawNight of Champions is now or never for the Divas division. Either it gets taken over by the athletes, or power stays with the strippers.

Even if Charlotte wins, it might be a temporary victory for athleticism. Eva Marie looks great, but can’t work a lick. Yet WWE sees her as a big-time star. Yikes.

With Raw’s ratings in the tank and no relief in sight as Monday Night Football sets the hook, WWE has two available scapegoats: The “Divas Revolution,” and Sting. Something Vince McMahon never liked anyway, and the WCW guy.

The women aren’t the problem. Steve Borden isn’t the problem.

The problem is that the WWE’s parody of sport has become WWE’s parody of pro wrestling. But WWE will never acknowledge the real reason it’s failing. The stock market might. The TV ratings and live attendance already have. House shows headlined by John Cena are drawing under 3,000 people. That’s not Cena’s fault.

If you work for WWE, it’s not about succeeding. It’s about staying out of blame’s way. Fake wrestling is a lot closer to dead than it is another spike.
