I’ll also be recording a Royal Rumble podcast tonight with a few other Wrestlezone names, past and present, so you’ll definitely want to watch for that in the next few days.

STEP UP: BROCK LESNAR
I don’t think the “Beast Incarnate” was turning babyface, as many had speculated Monday night, so much as he was just “being Brock Lesnar“. As the advocate Paul Heyman would say, what Brock wants, Brock gets. What Brock wanted on Raw was to take a piece of Seth Rollins’ home with him.
The F5 to Kane was a nice way to remind you that the champ is still a destroyer of worlds. The F5 to Big Show was a nice way to remind you that Brock Lesnar is the most dominant, powerful being in pro wrestling today. I had thought the well ran dry a long time ago with Big Show finisher spots, but somehow Brock made it look like a feet of Herculean strength (despite having done it a dozen times before).
WWE may find themselves in an awkward position come Sunday. I’m not sure why you’d book the man that ended Undertaker’s streak as a babyface, but that’s what they’ve been doing. You would think John Cena would be the guy to go after the Authority, and yet it was Brock that got the big pop during Raw for going after Rollins.
The booking makes me think Rollins will walk out of the Rumble as the world champion. The PPV is in Philadelphia, which could potentially be perceived as a B-level “heel town”, although not quite on the level of New York or Chicago. John Cena is not likely to get cheered. Knowing this, WWE could be booking Lesnar favorably because they know it will put more heat on Seth when he steals the title through nefarious means.
