Title This: The Next Step For TNA Wrestling

tnaThis is a special Impact Wrestling Reaction, where TNA seems to be taking a short hiatus. It was reported yesterday that Discovery America will be holding TNA Impact Wrestling beginning in January. Right now is a big opportunity for TNA to reset and refresh themselves before they launch on a new home. Let’s look at what TNA can do.

There is a New Knockouts Champion

This week’s edition had a new champion for the ladies of TNA. Taryn Terrell, who has become a consistent and entertaining wrestler, defeated Havok and Gail Kim to become champion. This could be the only way for Havok to lose the championship because of how big and overpowering she is. A 3-way match protected the monster in the Knockouts Division. Havok did not get pinned.

Terrell wins the championship and can focus on getting better at building her persona outside of the ring. Let us know why this means so much to her. Give us an insight into her personal life and what she does to drive and become the best. We know about Gail Kim. We don’t need to know much about Havok because she is SO unique. Taryn is more than just a pretty blonde. Showcase that.

A Plethora of Youth

We see Ethan Carter cutting off the hair of Rockstar Spud and really get heat from the crowd. Ethan Carter is now feuding with a guy who has little (no pun intended) essence to him. He is a typical underdog that fans like to cheer for. EC3 is the future of this company, that is given. I love seeing him grow in the ring and on the microphone. WWE certainly dropped the ball with this guy, even though he looks like a main event caliber star. With Carter, you also have guys like Bram.

Bram has a different mentality and is a strange guy. I love seeing his facial expressions tell the story, but his story with the ECW legends needs to be over with. Defeating Tommy Dreamer and Devon do very little for me. What does it do for him? Not much, aside from beating guys relevant in 1999. Bram and Magnus could really be a good tag team. Think of La Resistance. They were a hot heel tag team in WWE for a few years before they split up and were gone from the company. I would love to see them really focus on becoming a better team and potentially becoming champions down the road.

Samuel Shaw has plenty of depth in his character. He is creepy, scary, uncomfortable and still looks like a wrestler. Whether it is the tattoos or Brittany, he has appeal. I do not think he is a main event guy, but I can certainly see him becoming a really solid piece in some of the more detailed feuds that could span over the course of a few months. TNA needs to have patience with him.

Other guys that the company needs to focus on include The Wolves, DJ Z, Kenny King, Manik and Sanada. Some of these need to help the X-Division get back to its roots. X-Division needs to be solely on the “lighter” wrestlers in the company, not heavyweights like Samoa Joe.
