The Championship Round
World Heavyweight: Zzzz…
Intercontinental: I like the pairing of Ziggler and Cesaro, and I’m looking forward to their match at Hell in a Cell. If given enough time, they could steal the show. But I’d really like to see MORE from the challenger. More than sitting on commentary, talking a big game. And this goes for the whole roster – I’d like to see heels that are actually BAD PEOPLE. Not everyone has to be Rusev or Bray Wyatt, but Cesaro needs more depth before the crowd really gets behind a match between these two. Side-step.
United States: Sheamus is a great wrestler, but I just don’t care about anything he’s involved with. Damien Mizdow’s gimmick is more over than Sheamus, who is supposed to be this big, imposing former world champion mega babyface. It’s the same promo, week after week, about kicking people in the head. No depth to his character at all. I consistently have a hard time remember anything he did week-to-week. Step down.
Tag Team: Two weeks ago the titles took a big step down when the champions weren’t on RAW, and the challengers didn’t seem to care about getting them back. I sense no urgency in this program. In fact, you can see how little creative cares about the tag team division – and really all the non-world titles – by looking at the RAW booking this week. John Cena and Dean Ambrose pinned a tag champion, clean, in a TAG TEAM match. They also went on to have another match in the same night, showing no signs of wear. HUGE step down.
Divas: This week they completely separated AJ Lee and the Divas title from the Total Divas drama, had no affiliation with Nene Leakes, and gave the champion a clean win in what was essentially a 2-on-1 handicap match. In addition, she went and found Layla – who had just ditched her in the ring – and beat the hell out of her in front of Paige, her inevitable Hell in a Cell competition. The Divas title was the only title booked well this week.
