STEP UP: WWE Night of Champions Match Card
My one and only complaint about the Night of Champions match card is that Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt Family are nowhere to be seen. But I’m not going to be a total downer – sometimes it’s nice to give a top guy the night off, and refresh him in the fan’s eyes. Does anyone think another match with Chris Jericho is going to do anything more for him/them?
While I can barely get through Raw with the aid of a DVR, and forget Smackdown, the PPV product is usually worth the $9.99 every month. The SummerSlam follow-up card is usually a clone, much like the first PPV after WrestleMania. But this year there’s only two duplicated matches, both for titles that changed hands in August.
Reigns and Rollins has a chance at stealing the show, but they’ll have to work harder than Chris Jericho and Randy Orton, who are two of the most consistent wrestlers ever. Lesnar and Cena has the build to be good, if WWE makes the right decision and doesn’t hit the “panic button” on Brock’s reign. WWE has managed the Rhodes brother’s heel turn marvelously, and I’m looking forward to the tag title match as much as anything else on the card. It’s all shaping up to be a pretty solid night of pro wrestling, and with Cesaro freshly re-branded the “King of Wrestling”, it seems Night of Champions has at least one title change in store for us.
