Wrestlezone’s Top Ten WWE & NXT Superstars to Lead the Next Generation

#4 – Dean Ambrose

The Shield has collectively never wrestled a bad match. Not one. They are one of the best groups ever – not quite on Horseman or Evolution level, but in terms of dominance nobody has been better for a long, long time. But as good as they are, I can't wait for The Shield to implode, just to watch Dean Ambrose explode up the card. All he needs is the mic, a ring, and time to shine. I know people haven't seen a lot of Ambrose as a singles star, despite being the United States Champion, but if you don't know Jon Moxley, you absolutely need to watch this video (caution: this video is for adult audiences only)…

Jon Moxley promos were must-see on the independent scene. He was a cross between Heath Ledger's Joker in "The Dark Knight" and the classic Mankind footage from boiler room promos and his iconic one-on-one with Jim Ross. When he rants for long enough, you can almost hear Foley's voice cracking. Dean Ambrose has kept the inner demons at bay since joining WWE. No talk of his mother being a whore, being assaulted by strange men, or his father being carted off to prison. It's PG show, after all. But I cannot wait for The Shield to end, because when they do, and Ambrose stands alone, you're going to see something special. Something potentially violent, more than a bit disturbing, and hopefully a call-back to something the sports entertainment world has been missing.

"You're gonna have to run me over with a car to get rid of me, sunshine."
