dolph zigglerDolph Ziggler – One Step Down

One step down is likely not far enough for Ziggler this week.

He lost on Raw. Generally, I'd say it was no big deal. New reports coming in claim he lost on a house show even, and last night lost a Smackdown dark match. Again, wouldn't normally matter to me. The WAY he's losing is what concerns me the most about the situation. And it concerns me a ton.

Even when Dolph was losing before — which has been plenty in recent months — he'd at least get to go the distance in the ring. WWE may deny him wins, or pushes, or anything remotely resembling a push, but they would never deny him his ring time. Until now, apparently?

Ziggler is at worst, Top 5 in the company. At best, he's the number one wrestler you have (an opinion I personally hold). Why in hell is he losing in two minutes? Fans don't buy for a second that Del Rio is a legitimate, viable threat to Batista, so why bother trying that hard to prove he is? You can have Del Rio beat 15 guys in two minutes and fans will still expect Batista to go over clean.

I don't throw around the word "bury" very often. I just don't like to use it, and most tiimes, those that do, do it with very little to back up their claims. However, Ziggler has got to be close to being a prime candidate for that label. I really can't think of any other way to describe it.

I forgot who it was, but a wrestling columnist I follow recently made a bold prediction about Dolph. They didn't think he'd make it through 2014 as a member of the WWE roster. I thought the guy was out of his mind originally, but honestly, it's starting to look like a realistic possibility.

Overreaction? I hope so.
