Number 3: CM Punk
CM Punk was the WWE Champion in the beginning of 2013. His lengthy reign would come at the defeat of The Rock. After another rematch at Elimination Chamber, Punk set his sights on the hardest task of them all: facing The Undertaker at WrestleMania 29. It was a fantastic match that told an even better story. The death of Paul Bearer was disturbingly perfect for this feud. Punk took full control and even had us hold our breath a few times during that match. It stole the show and made the biggest event complete. After this, Punk would try and work his way back to the top. He took some time off and came back to battle Chris Jericho in his hometown. Punk notched a win and headed to Money in the Bank, where Paul Heyman would screw Punk. This set up "The Best vs. The Beast." Lesnar and Punk was the highlight of SummerSlam. It was a telling story of an underdog versus the big bully. Punk never stopped putting on excellent matches and never gave us a reason to dislike him. Whether heel or face, CM Punk was a workhorse and a star in 2013.
