Wrestlezone’s Top 10: Moments of 2013 So Far

Number 6: The Newest Paul Heyman Guy

Curtis Axel

When CM Punk decided to step away from the WWE for a few months, it was time to focus on a new superstar. As WWE hyped, Paul Heyman was set to debut his newest “guy.” WIth the rumors of Rob Van Dam returning to WWE, many assumed he would be that guy. The biggest surprise of the year so far had to be Joe Hennig, Michael McGillicutty, now Curtis Axel as the new “Paul Heyman Guy.” I will be the first one to say that this came out of nowhere. Axel has always had the talent in the ring, but has lacked the microphone work and the impact on the company. He would step into matches against Triple H and John Cena. His debut was shocking. The next few weeks showed you that they really liked what he had to offer. They pushed him to the Intercontinental Championship, even though many are wondering what they are doing with him now. No matter where he is at now, Axel’s debut was a moment all of us will remember in these first 6 months of 2013.
