Cool your jets, marks. Steve Austin had tons of success in WCW as a member of the Dangerous Alliance and Hollywood Blondes. In WWE, he was The Ringmaster right before he became Stone Cold Steve Austin. As The Ringmaster, he was under the advisery of Ted DiBiase. Many gimmicks for this man were just average. He never got over completely until he was given a microphone and started the Attitude Era. Stone Cold Steve Austin was born and Austin 3:16 ruled the world. His cheesy Ringmaster gimmick was dropped for a more realistic and common gimmick. He drank beer, flipped off his boss and opponents, and kicked ass. He would stomp a mudhole into his opponents and collect championships with ease. This was the reason WWE thrived and the company was saved. This gimmick saved WWE, plain and simple. Stone Cold, changing from a blonde to a Ringmaster to a beer drinker, was a drastic change that nobody thought would have this much of an impact on the professional wrestling world years later.
