John Cena defeated The Rock to win the WWE Championship
Reaction:
It was all about redemption. This night was for John Cena. After a year of consistently losing, Cena needed this spotlight against a guy like The Rock. This match was so much better than last year's contest. The Rock looked more athletic, more in tune, and I give that credit for his training with Joe Hennig and his matches with CM Punk. He did not get quickly gassed out and was able to build upon the first move he had. I loved the fact that Cena and Rock tried to exchange each others finishers. It was Cena who hit Rock Bottom, but did not get the victory. The ending of the match was confusing to me. Cena tried to mock Rock again, which caused him to lose last year. Instead, he punked out Rock at his own game. Yes, the match was not amazing, but it told a story of over a year. Last year had a build of a year, but this year had actual events personally to build upon. They did not need to do multiple finishers to end the match. There were 4 Rock Bottoms I believe, and that is TOO MANY. The best part of the night came when the crowd erupted for Cena winning. I think people just love to boo him for the hell of it now. They realize that Rock is a guy who loves the business, but will not put his heart into it every week. That is what John Cena is there for. Very good match that was plagued in the beginning of being the third in a heavy booked ending of 4 hours.
