Pontiac Silverdome, right outside of Detroit, was the home for Wrestlemania 3. If you want to point at a crucial time in making Wrestlemania more than wrestling, this was it. Hulk Hogan vs. Andre The Giant was the main event. Andre had never really been knocked off his feet before, let alone lose. If you want to make a guy get over, have him suplex the largest man in the history of wrestling. Let’s face it, it was not a good match. This was so much more than a match. It was the stepping stone for professional wrestling. It overcame the usual wrestling and made it sports entertainment. You can bash Hogan all you want, but these two men staring at each other was chilling. The Irresistable Force meeting the Immovable Object. Hogan and Andre sold out the stadium, and it was because of these guys that Wrestlemania continued to grow in many ways.
