Wrestlezone’s Top 10: Jerry Lawler Moments in Professional Wrestling

Number 7: Extremely Crappy Wrestling

Paul Heyman

In the mid 90’s, Jerry “The King” Lawler made it known that he did not like ECW one bit. In a time where WWE was trying to help ECW, (yeah I said it) Lawler would continue to ridicule and criticize ECW’s product, calling it Extremely Crappy Wrestling.  After months of trash talk, ECW would invade the brand new Monday Night Raw. You can remember the scene on the huge R.A.W. letters where ECW wrestlers came out to wreak havoc on Vince’s company. This was edgy, unqiue, and much different than anything we have seen up to date.  Lawler would leave WWE for one night to face Tommy Dreamer in August 1997. The event was “Hardcore Heaven” and Dreamer would shut up a loud mouthed WWE guy. This was great and really opened the door for new and fresh ideas to entertain fans of all brands.
