Number 5: SummerSlam 2003
The stage was set. The Pay Per View was SummerSlam 2003, in which Triple H would face off against Goldberg, Kevin Nash, Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, and Randy Orton. All of the guys in the match were established, aside from a wild card like Orton. Triple H was in a much intense feud at the time with Goldberg. The match started with arguably the two best wrestlers in the match, Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels. They fought for 5 minutes back and forth, neither gaining the upper hand. This was a perfect beginning for a match that would turn into turmoil quickly. Orton and Nash came in at 3 and 4 respectively. You quickly turned a solid one on one wrestling match into four guys with different styles of wrestling. Kevin Nash did not last long, as Sweet Chin Music by Michaels followed by a pin fall from Jericho sent him packing. Triple H was the fifth entrant, but would get some Sweet Chin Music as well, sending him back into his chamber. He was knocked out, and this gave time for Goldberg to dominate. He did just that, Spearing Orton for the elimination. He would fight his way to Jackhammer Michaels and Jericho, leaving himself and Triple H all alone. The fight we all wanted to see was happening inside the destructive chamber. Goldberg would Spear The Game through the chamber glass. Both men were out, but it was Ric Flair who gave H a sledgehammer, which led to his bloodied beatdown on Goldberg. He would get the victory, and retain his gold. Why was this match number 5? It was not the best booked match, but it showcased a little bit of everything. It gave us wrestling, brutality, and also gave us the fight we all wanted to see.
