WrestleZone Top Ten: Chris Jericho Moments

Number 1: Countdown to the Millenium

Upon his return a few weeks ago, Chris Jericho was rumored to return for months. Many on this site called it, including myself. This was a unique return, but his best was his debut. For months, we have a Countdown to the Millenium, a video that would randomly count down time, and nothing else. There was no mention of who it was, but a simple yet effective way for a Raw to have all the attention to. August 9, 1999, The Rock was cutting a promo on The Big Show. He was interrupted by the clock, the lights went out, pyro hit, and the name JERICHO popped on the screen. Just like that, he was an instant crowd favorite, and one of the most talked about debuts ever. The crowd in Chicago went crazy, and just like that, WWE and WCW’s feud would take the front pages. Jericho jumped ship at the right time, made a bigger name for himself in the bigger company. It took a little bit of time, but nobody can argue that he was a huge piece in WWE overstepping WCW. It was new, edgy, and controversial. Jericho was elcetrifying, different, and fresh. He was Y2J, a joke on the Y2K bug that would not come in 2000. Genius, pure brilliance.
