The Cashbox: 5 Reasons Why Raw Disappointed This Week

A good program for the WWE Championship could have made up for a lackluster Raw…at least a little.  But Raw didn't give us that either.

Given the fact that Del Rio vs. Cena never really took off in the first place, another pay per view main event between the two is just overkill.  The recent back-and-forth nature of the title makes it worse.  Del Rio has been mismanaged for months at the expense of Cena and he's simply not taken seriously at this point – as Champion or challenger.

I think WWE is trying to get Del Rio his heat back by letting him get a PPV win over Cena, but I'm afraid it might be too little too late at this point. There's a very small window when trying to capitalize on a wrestler's momentum and take him to the next level.  I'm not saying that window has closed on Del Rio completely, but it has gotten considerably smaller.

With everything else happening on Raw this week, there was no time to set up this Championship match, so we were left with a quick announcement by Johnny Ace.  With only one more Raw to go, I don't expect much more than that either.
