Then at the end of the show we had the not so shocking return of Miz and R Truth who ended up in a scrap with Triple H and CM Punk. The camera cut to the back and Mr. Laryngitis and the quickly changed David BroTunga (That’s for you Breaking Kayfabe guys) discussed what was happening and informed us that at Vengeance it will be Triple H and CM Punk taking on Miz and R Truth.
Vengeance is the filler PPV in every possible sense! What matches do we look forward to? John Cena winning the WWE Championship for the 11th time!? So he can promote ‘The Reunion’, Big Show losing to Mark Henry? And this tag team match? Nothing is jumping out at me here. To be honest, I’m frightened to say that I would rather watch ‘The Reunion’ than Vengeance at this stage!
Vince explained that the reason for the Board’s decision is the possible financial impact on the organisation if the walkout continued. The Board are quickly looking stupid in this story as they originally brought in Triple H because Vince was out of control when he had in reality done nothing and now they put Mr. Laryngitis in control. The roster now looks stupid because they didn’t walk out again this past Monday on RAW after events which were far more shocking than what we’ve seen in recent weeks.
Hopefully this will all be explained in the upcoming shows and I don’t want to moan about the direction they are taking but I can’t help but feel that this storyline felt like it was written by someone in TNA. It’s becoming far too complex. So Vince is still the Chairman seeing as he had a board meeting this week? Triple H is still the COO but not the Manager of RAW and now the laptop has been dropped as the anonymous General Manager whilst we have an Interim GM? The roles are not being explained on camera and fans of all different ages are quickly losing this story.
On a lighter note there were some good spots. The opening segment brought all the top stars together to clearly give their verdicts on the situation and starts to show who will be involved in this Survivor Series team with The Rock in a few weeks. Mark Henry continued to look as strong as possible and is greatly improving on the mic. Mason Ryan wasn’t the train wreck I expected and Air Boom has finally got entrance music! Cody Rhodes gave a rather strange laugh after embarrassing Randy Orton but looked solid and Kelly Kelly decided to start randomly screaming again (sarcasm.)
Overall WWE can still make this a success but I couldn’t help but feel a little detached from this week’s show. Nothing hit me as shocking and explanations didn’t always feel justified.
