Fantasy Warfare: TNA vs. WWE
By: Chris â<80><9c>The Authorityâ<80> Schultz
It was just a matter of time before I wrote this article. I can remember long ago, writing up a piece just like this one, which featured the WCW and the WWF. The concept is definitely not new, but it sure is a lot of fun to ask what if? Dreams became reality when Vince McMahon purchased WCW and ECW several years back. We were actually able to see some of the dream match ups we thought were almost impossible to happen. If there is one saying in professional wrestling that holds true to this day it is never say never. Therefore, join me in putting together a star studded card for a possible, but improbable event which features some of the biggest names from both TNA and the WWE.
Sting vs. Shawn Michaels
This was definitely the first one that popped into my head. How amazing would this match be? Before the WCW closed its doors, Sting was the only one that had never jumped ship and worked for Vince McMahon. On the other hand, Shawn Michaels never left the WWE even though his best friends decided to go down South. Each of these wrestlers are amazing athletes with tons of charisma. Being that Shawn was and still is more agile, I would have to give the edge to the Heartbreak Kid in this bout. This dream match up would definitely sell out any arena across the country.
A.J. Styles vs. Rey Mysterio
I couldnâ<80><99>t begin to tell you how unbelievable this encounter would be. This match would bring down the house. It even has Main Event potential. The things that these guys do in and out of the ring are incredible. Rey Mysterio has the experience edge, but A.J. lives up to his moniker of Phenomenal. This is one battle I think can happen down the road. Styles is still very young and Rey Mysterio doesnâ<80><99>t seem like he is a lock for another title run in the WWE. I hope and pray that we are all able to witness this in the future. As far as who would win, I would have to go with Styles based on his strength and build. Mysterio would definitely give him a run for his money though.
Kane vs. Abyss
This wonâ<80><99>t be much of a wrestling match as much as it would be a brawl. Although many believe the Abyss gimmick was a copy of the older Kaneâ<80><99>s, they both have made quite a name for themselves in the business. Both have a huge presence in and out of the ring. Again, the WWE has the experience with Kane, but have you seen some of the matches that Abyss has been in. He has taken hardcore to a different level. My vote is with Abyss if I had to pick a winner.
Samoa Joe vs. Batista
Both men have quite a future in this industry and will be sure Hall of Famers once all is said and done. Batista brings an energy that few have in recent years. He is built like a Greek god and the younger fans seem not to be able to get enough. On the other hand you have Samoa Joe. Although he is not as muscular as The Animal, he moves twice as quick in the ring. To be completely honest, it still amazes me to see Joe move that quick based on his size. This one would be hard to choose a winner, but I believe TNA would come out on top again due to Samoa Joe being the better all around performer.
Christian Cage vs. Edge
Yes, I know, we have seen this before. However, that was then, this is now. Both are at the top of their game and in the prime of their careers. World Champion vs. World Champion. Christian Cage reached his potential in TNA whereas Edge stuck it out in the WWE. This match would simply be amazing. Both know each other well enough in and out of the ring that they could keep us entertained for hours. I still see Edge having the edge in this match. Both athletes are very entertaining and their respective companies really couldnâ<80><99>t survive without them.
Robert Roode vs. Mr. Kennedy
This would be a battle between the two fastest rising stars in the business. Both are also excellent heels. You really love to hate these arrogant men. There is no denying their skill inside the squared circle though. Mr. Kennedy is just a natural behind the microphone as well, which Roode is still working on. This is also a tough task to pick a winner on this one. Letâ<80><99>s just say this would end in a draw or some sort of disqualification.
Jeff Jarrett vs. Randy Orton
We know that Jarrett has triple the experience Orton has in this business, but what a great match this would be. Both Orton and Jarrett have had pro wrestling in their blood since they were small children. Itâ<80><99>s what they both grew up around. Both have also shared a lot of success in the business they were raised in. You got to love the similar attitudes these men display when confronted by their nemesis. The old school mentality that each of them exhibit in the ring indicates just how much respect they have for the business. I would definitely have to take Randy Orton in this match though. I just donâ<80><99>t think Jarrett could hang with the Legend Killer even with the trusty guitar by his side.
Chris Sabin vs. Jeff Hardy
I honestly think both of these men would kill themselves to please the crowd. They both have no fear and electrify the masses everywhere they go. Even the Motor City Machine Guns vs. both the Hardy Boys would be over the top. If this match ever did take place, letâ<80><99>s hope a ladder is involved. The WWE would win again in my opinion due to Jeffâ<80><99>s experience, but Sabin wouldnâ<80><99>t go down without a fight.
Rhino vs. Umaga
No ring, or cage for that matter, could hold these two raging bulls. It would take a special person to even referee a match like this. The energy level would be through the roof. Only the strong will survive this bout and thatâ<80><99>s why I would have to go with the War Machine Rhino as the victor. Hopefully the ring would still be in tact after this one.
Kurt Angle vs. Triple H
Yes, we have seen this before too, but itâ<80><99>s the best vs. the best. Thatâ<80><99>s all I have to say about that.
