FAST COUNTS
*I was backstage at an ECW taping when Tammy Sytch told Paul Heyman that if he didn’t start paying her more, she’d have to turn to prostitution or pornography. Heyman, without missing a beat, said, “Go with prostitution. You can’t deny pornography.”
*Ric Flair’s commercial for the North Carolina lottery is priceless. At 60, it made more sense to have Flair fussed over by a grandma who remembers what he once was instead of some hot, young thing trolling for more alimony. The elderly woman’s reaction is so precious and genuine.
*Sting should NOT do a farewell tour under the TNA banner. The crowds would be embarrassing. Look at the sparse attendance Kurt Angle draws for TNA house shows. It doesn’t matter how good you are or used to be; when you wrestle for TNA, you mean NOTHING. If Sting wants to retire, he should do one final PPV, or one last TV, get feted on-air, and go home. But Sting could wrestle forever if he wants. You don’t age under that makeup. Look at Gene Simmons.
*The decline of the wrestling industry has been abetted by a lack of new stars and a dearth of creative booking. But wrestling’s biggest nemesis is MMA. MMA has compelling characters, storylines with continuity and legit fights. There’s always a payoff, because IT’S REAL. I don’t know what wrestling can possibly do to compete with that.
