Miz The Role Model; Rankings; Award Of The Week

Rankings (That don’t really matter)

1.) Sting, TNA Legend- So those 3-3-11 video promos WERE about Sting! The rumors were true! The Stinger returned to the ring with a World Championship victory. Not bad, not bad, but I still kinda want to see him at WrestleMania.

2.) Sunny, the original Diva- A couple months after the rumors were started, Tammy Lynn Sytch got her due by officially being named as a 2011 WWE Hall of Fame inductee. Make no mistake, she deserves it. During her heyday Sunny-fever was the sickness of choice for the core male demographic. Before her you had to choose between Sherri Martel, Heidi Lee Morgan, or Rockin’ Robin as your WWF woman of choice. (My apologies to any Jumping Bomb Angels fans.)  She was nothing short of a game changer. And not to compromise my journalistic integrity (Ha. Is that possible on the Internet?), but I can personally attest that if Sunny slaps you in the left side of face, you feel it on the right, too.

3.) Sin Cara, NOT Rey Mysterio- By the look and feel of the promos, either the WWE is getting the next biggest Mexican star or Jesus is coming back to save the world.  Either way… impressive move set.

4.) Johnny Cash, THE Man in black- The first four minutes of the biggest wrestling show around started with a full slice of Cash to sooth the soul. I’d love to see the iTunes sales numbers right after that.

5.) Jack Swagger, All-American Something Something- He’s done nothing for months and now is smack dab in the middle of one of ‘Mania’s highlighted matches. Well-played, Gorilla Arms. Well-played.

The “Why you should really love Indy wrestling” award of the week:

* SPOILER ALERT*

Winner of the match and nnnnnneeeeeeewwwwwww NWA Heavyweight Champion of the World… Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana.

At the March 6th TV taping’s for NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, Colt Cabana got his much anticipated and well earned t title shot against “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce and pulled out the victory. It is his first reign as NWA champion and his should be a very entertaining run. For those of you not believing in the power of the NWA title, tune in to see the celebration. It still means something to a lot of people.

The “Unsolicited TNA advice” of the week:

Stop swinging for the fences.

Week after week TNA tries to do too much with each episode of Impact! It’s almost like they’re trying to bridge the gap between them and the WWE with each segment. It’s a swing for the fences mentality that only produces a big hole in your swing and causes more strike outs. There is no reason to “get it all back” in one show. Take your time, build stronger story lines, be patient, and breathe a little. Each show is jammed pack with so many confusing ever changing story lines, hotshot bookings, or needless celebrity appearances that everything gets lost in the shuffle.  The road to success begins when TNA realizes that they are the number two company and always will be. There is no need to go after something you can’t be… just be the best number two company you can be. I think that’s what Yoda was talking about in The Empire Strikes Back.
