#2.) Daniel Bryan vs John Cena – SummerSlam 2013
John Cena handpicked Daniel Bryan as his SummerSlam opponent to compete for the WWE Championship. Bryan was beginning the hottest run of his career and rose to popularity over the course of months. Naturally, everyone was delighted by the matchup and hoped that Bryan would beat the face of the franchise.
In a classic main event, Cena and Bryan put it all on the line in a war for the biggest prize in the industry. Both competitors showed incredible resilience with a multitude of false finishers and submissions. Cena’s elbow (which had swollen up due to injury) was often a target for the match and became a great factor in the story that was told.
Ultimately, Bryan won clean after a running knee. His moment, unfortunately, would be taken away from him when Randy Orton cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase following Triple H’s assault on Bryan.
