Jade Cargill’s 5 Best AEW Matches

Jade Cargill‘s AEW career is arguably one of the most dominant runs in modern-day pro wrestling. The 31-year-old went undefeated in singles competition for over a year in AEW. She capped off her career in Tony Khan’s promotion with 60 wins and only two losses.

Jade faced many opponents during her rise, and after her history-making TBS Championship win on the January 5, 2022, episode of Dynamite. She spent the majority of her three-year stint successfully defending her title against both up-and-comers and established veterans.

These are her five best matches or, dare we say, five best title defenses in AEW.

Jade Cargill vs. Anna Jay (Ramage – January 21, 2022)

Jade Cargill kicked off her AEW TBS Championship reign with a win over Ruby Soho in the tournament finals on January 5, 2022. Her first challenge came in Anna Jay two weeks into her championship run.

Jay showed a lot of heart, relying on her grit throughout the match, but the champion wasn’t going to let go of the title so soon. After eight minutes of action, Cargill laid out the challenger – making the first of many successful title defenses.

Jade Cargill Vs. Willow Nightingale (AEW Battle of the Belts IV)

The feud between Willow Nightingale and Jade Cargill was tied to the former’s issue with The Baddies. Cargill had been victorious over Nightingale during their previous meeting on Rampage’s Road Rager 2022 TV special.

The second confrontation for the TBS Championship between the champion and challenger transpired at AEW Battle of the Belts IV. Nightingale brought the fight to the champion because of their similar strength, but that wasn’t enough to put Cargill down.

The post-match angle saw Nyla Rose steal the TBS Championship belt to kick off the build to Full Gear 2022.

Jade Cargill Vs. Tay Conti (Revolution 2022)

Tay Conti accepted Jade Cargill’s open challenge for the AEW TBS Championship in the build to Revolution 2022. The Brazilian put on a solid performance against the bigger and stronger champion, using her judo background to the best of her abilities.

One of the most talked-about moments emerged when Cargill kissed Tay Conti to mock her. The challenger repaid with a kiss of her own and hit a DDTay for a near fall. It took one Jaded from the champion to put down the challenger and extend her undefeated streak to 29-0.

Jade Cargill Vs. Skye Blue (Battle of the Belts V)

Skye Blue’s breakthrough performance came against Jade Cargill at Battle of the Belts V. The upstart brought out the best in the champion during their TBS Championship match at the January 6, 2023 television special.

The match, especially Blue’s performance, received high praise from fans and critics alike, with many calling it Cargill’s best title defense up to that point.

Jade Cargill vs. Kris Statlander (Rampage – September 15, 2023)

Kris Statlander made her surprise return from injury at Double or Nothing 2023. She made a huge statement by defeating Jade Cargill in an impromptu match for the TBS Championship, putting an end to her undefeated streak in the process.

The rematch took place on the September 15th episode of Rampage. Statlander’s methodical approach blended well with Cargill’s brutish strength. The two produced a great match which, even though was Cargill’s last, turned out to be her very best.
