#4.) KOTR is historically a heel-favored tournament
For better or worse, most King of the Ring winners throughout history have been heels. While we have had a few babyface KOTR winners, the reality is that it’s a tournament essentially meant to push heels. Even when ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin cut the Austin 3:16 promo, he was a rising heel superstar.
As mentioned, bragging is a large part of it. When you’re King of the Ring, you need to have an arrogance and sense of demeanor that babyfaces simply can’t do. Corbin was the best option as a heel to win the tournament, with perhaps Samoa Joe being the only one close.
