Right around the time of his breakup with The Shield, Seth Rollins’ singles career took off in a big way. It was clear that he was getting pushed as a top star and a lot of his offense was clearly built from Shawn Michaels – a man who Rollins had idolized. The two even had a confrontation in 2015 and Rollins acknowledged that people called him the “next Shawn Michaels”.
Michaels simply hit back at Rollins telling him that when he was young, he never tried to be the “next” anyone but the “first” Shawn Michaels. Turns out he succeeded in a big way.
