Harper had been out for a while in 2018, having suffered a major injury before dropping the SmackDown Tag Team Championship as part of The Bludgeon Brothers. He was cleared in February 2019, itching to come back to action. However, due to a lack of plans, he was held off until a random WrestleMania 35 appearance.
He was reportedly scheduled to feud with Sami Zayn post-WrestleMania, but the nixed plans led to him requesting his release from WWE. It’s a shame that they didn’t do more with his return, because they could have easily planned a big angle for him.
