Being handed the task to kick off one of the biggest shows of the year isn’t easy. However, Asuka and Becky Lynch did a fantastic job in building the match and hyping the crowd up from start. Obviously, the crowd was behind The Man Becky Lynch, who’s on another level in terms of popularity. Even so, they didn’t outright boo Asuka because of the respect they have for her as a performer.
When you’re somebody as skilled as Asuka is, it’s hard to deny it. Asuka put on a fantastic performance and used a new submission to finish Becky Lynch, proving that there are still tricks in her bag that we’re yet to see. And the fact that Becky Lynch won the Royal Rumble and Asuka beat her clean only further validates her reign as a dominant champion.
