Hideo Itami was one of the first major “international superstars” that WWE signed in the early rebranding of NXT era. However, Itami’s extended injury saw Nakamura take his place as the top Japanese superstar in WWE (with Asuka on the female side). Even in Japan, Itami wrestled for NOAH while Nakamura wrestled for NJPW, meaning that the two never really crossed paths.
If they were allowed to have a real Japanese-style hard-hitting match, then they could blow the roof off any arena they perform in. Plus, Itami being jealous of Nakamura’s success in WWE would certainly make for an interesting storyline.
