While he didn’t know it then, McIntyre getting released by WWE was the best thing that happened to his career. He took a chance on himself and took part in a worldwide odyssey that saw him become one of the best wrestlers in the world. It gave him the platform to hone his skills as a performer and mature as one.
Soon after his release in 2014, he vowed to Chris Jericho on Talk Is Jericho that he would be back in WWE someday. It was a vow that he would fulfill, as he returned to WWE as a high-profile signing. It was clear that despite his desire to work for long in NXT, he was destined for a main roster call-up.
This time around, things looked to be much different than his first run as he was a completely different performer altogether.
