Charlotte Flair met some new competition on Smackdown in the form of the latest NXT call-ups, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, and lost her Women’s Championship to Carmella!
The Iconic Duo interrupted Charlotte’s promo about her Wrestlemania win, and mocked her for being inspired, and told her to stop living in the past. Charlotte attacked them but she was quickly outnumbered, and they beat her down on the mat and unloaded on her with punches. Charlotte threw Peyton outside but Billie kicked her in the face, then they whipped her into the commentary table and sent her face first into the ringpost. The Duo weren’t finished just yet, and they whipped her into the steel steps, then hit a double powerbomb on the floor before pulling her back into the ring.
Following the attack, Carmella ran down and cashed in her Money In The Bank briefcase to start the title match on the spot. Carmella screamed at the ref to ring the bell, and kicked a dazed Charlotte in the head to win the title.
This is Carmella’s first title reign in WWE; Charlotte’s first Smackdown Women’s Championship reign ends at 147 days.
